Baseball's Here!!!

Baseball season is here again, and I must admit, after five years here in Indiana, I am still not adjusted to the idea of being horribly cold on the first day. And looking at snow on the ground (though just in patches) is just plain wrong.

But still, all is once again right with the world. My Boys in Blue are ready to play, and I'm excited about the team. I am thrilled with the signings and I love our young guys....and Maggie and I managed to once again obtain Russell Martin for our fantasy team. What more could I want?

Woo Hoo! Go Dodgers!

  1. Wisely, the Indians played in Texas for their first game. Sadly, they lost.

  2. That's why its a long season, Barb...161 more games to go, and even the best lose at least 60 of 'em!!

Not like college football where you are out of it with the first loss :-P

  3. I don't follow baseball (to me it is akin to watching paint dry...) but I thought of you today and I just can feel your excitement over here in the frozen tundra!

  5. woo-hoo... sad about the one loss, but hey, the Dodgers are on pace for 104 wins this season! grin.

the Cardinal fans around here are already upset... can't blame them too much - two blown saves on opening day! against the Pirates no less. Someone joked that they are on pace for 324 blown saves (blown saves last season probably kept them out of the playoffs.)

  6. Well, we took the series, and sweeping the Padres at home is something that is very difficult to do, especially for us, since they get a little more motivated when they come against us, anyway (my hubby calls them the annoying little brother who won't go away. he does that to bug me. I was a Padres fan when we met)

The Cards have had bad going with their closers in the last few years. At least its not Izzy anymore. My kids' godmother blamed him entirely for her high blood pressure.

  8. Re: Padres - my brother-in-law is a Padres fan. I just don't understand that.
It was even more difficult to beat the Pads this year at pitcher-friendly Petco since ownership decided to let our pitchers go and become a hitting ballclub.

Re: Izzy - they gave the new rookie closer Jason Mott Izzy's old locker. For as superstitious as baseball players are, you think they would have known better. Don't be surprised if your kids' godmother is upset about that.
The Cards are an interesting bunch this season. They've got Jason Mott - former catcher now pitching. Skip Schumacher trying to be an outfielder turned 2nd base. And of course, Prince Albert, who came up as an outfielder, was over at 3rd and now collects gold gloves at 1st. He had 7 assists last night, apparently that hasn't been done by a 1st baseman since the 70s or so.

Looking forward to seeing our boys in blue play at Busch,
    Jim

  9. While I live in TB Rays area, have been married to a die hard Yankee fan for many, many years. Now able to get many of the games so he is quite happy.
