a few members enjoyed my happy dance... my organist (die-hard cards fan and cubs hater) said about our boys in blue, "It couldn't have happened to a nicer team." She's so sweet. of course, I also learned who the cubs fans in hiding are around here.
If it were advent, I'd be driving to Catholic Supply in St. Louis and buying some blue paraments!
(My parents' previous pastor was an Angels fan. He thought it quite appropriate that the year they beat our nemesis in SF (my nomenclature, not his) for the World Series, our vestments were red at the start of the playoffs (St. Michael's) and red at the end (Reformation). Thankfully for him, he is spared the misery of recent Angel playoff runs and now enjoys being with the real angels in the presence of the Lord.)
My husband joked with an elder that he almost told the Altar Guild to put the blue up today.
The vacancy pastor before my husband couldn't preach a sermon, so we are told, without mentioning the Cubs...and since he brought it up in his sermon at the installation, I assume its true...so Jeff trods lightly...
I read it last year, but haven't this year. Tommy was on Dennis Miller's radio show last night. It was funny. He was talking about how they used to hide Roberto Clemente from scouts.
