Is It In You?

I am always amazed at the continual series that some of the contemporary churches have. You know, the Powerpoint presentation that is shined and polished and perfectly choreographed....

Epic Church (the church with the Lenten series on sex) has a new one: "Vision, Is it In You?"

The pastor says "In an Aquafina world, Christ is calling us to live with Gatorade intensity for Him."

I am afraid the imagery doesn't get me, because Gatorade makes me think "sickeningly sweet and artificial."

Hmm. I was also amazed in the line "No guts... no glory for God" Maybe I'm missing something, but I thought Christ has done everything that needs to be done for His glory...

I don't like gatorade either!

Once again - another theme with a "me-centered" focus.

Well, when I used to drink Gatorade before bed I had trouble sleeping. So maybe he means we should do that so we're awake to pray longer? Naw...we don't need to pray. Just do what he says and wait for the blessings to drop on our heads. Like bricks.

Hmmm...I thought Jesus was the Living Water. Maybe they should reverse that...

I'll take an Aquafina of pure Gospel, thanks, Pr. Kade.

And seriously, if we're talking "intesity" shouldn't he use a drink like Red Bull?

You guys don't see the imagery?

Don't you remember when Jesus said, "You are the electrolyte of the earth, but if electrolyte has lost its taste, how shall its electrolyte-iness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet."

Hmmm... maybe that exegesis isn't as faithful as it could be.

It doesn't matter what the metaphor is. The real problem is that I can't be Gatorade no matter how hard I try. I know that I am Aquafina just like everyone else. I keep pouring in the powder into myself and I just turn out to be this clumpy mess of yucky, yellow slime. I can call myself Gatorade, but it just isn't true. I just get spit out and trampled under foot.

Hmm... if only someone was Gatorade on my behalf. Wouldn't that be great?

Gal 3:11 - Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for "The righteous shall live by faith."

Good and funny comments.

And why does it have to be name brand drinks. What about good ol' fashion tap water that is free; like Christ's love.
