Lucky Thirteen

Today is the anniversary of the day when God blessed me with the most precious earthly gift He could give me. My wonderful, sweet, loving, good husband.

When I was in high school, we studied this poem by Anne Bradstreet, and it became the focus of what I wanted in a husband. I know I posted it last year, but I always return to it every anniversary and thank God that He answered my prayer.

To My Dear and Loving Husband

If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were lov'd by wife, then thee.
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me, ye women, if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that Rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee give recompence.
Thy love is such I can no way repay.
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let's so persever
That when we live no more, we may live ever.

I love you, Honey. Happy Anniversary.

Happy anniversary! I really love Bradstreet's poetry, so much so that I wrote several papers about her in college. You've made me want to go dig them out again!

RPW, I gave my Dh an LSB last fall for our 10th anniv with the first line of that poem imprinted on the cover, and the whole poem inside.

:) Great minds think alike.

Congrats on your 13 years. I can hardly remember a time when I wasn't Mad Musician's girl.

It is a special poem -- it is okay to use it every year if you feel like it!

Happy Anniversary and many more.
